The National Democratic Congress very soon will select their parliamentary candidates for election 2024 and one constituency that will be under the spotlight is East Ayawaso constituency with its capital as Nima. The focus will be on this constituency solely because of the involvement of the the former MP for Akwatia and the current Deputy Director of Legal Affairs for the NDC.
The front dext of Papastorynewshub decided to conduct a research of the chances of the three leading candidates just after the NDC's National congress held last week and the preliminary results indicates that Hon. Baba Jamal Esq. is slightly ahead of the other two major contenders, Hon. Mac Nasser Toure, the current MP and Dr. Yakubu Azindow who contested the MP in 2019 for the seat.
Methodology
About 1000 people on the streets of Nima, Kanda and Ruuga were randomly interviewed directly in this preliminary poll, about half of the people interviewed were found out to be actual delegates who will be part of the decision to choose the next Candidate for NDC.
The poll was conducted on Wednesday 21st December, 2022 between the hours of 8am to 3pm. 20 persons were used as poolsters to conduct the interviews across the constituency.
Margin of Error
The margin of error is put at about 2%.
THE Candidates for the poll
1. Mahama Nasser Toure (MNT) is the current MP for the constituency who has been in parliament since 2012. He is a businessman.
2. Hon. Baba Jamal Esq. (BJ) is a former MP, former Deputy Minister for eight years and currently the Deputy Director for Legal Affairs of NDC. He is a private legal practitioner.
3. Dr. Yakubu Azindow (YA) is a Lecturer in the United States of America. He contested the incumbent at the last primaries. He is a Lecturer in the University.
Questions asked
The research was based on three simple questions:
1. Have you heard about any of the three persons who intend to contest for the NDC primaries for 2024?
2. Have you met with the person personally before?
3. Who will you vote for as the next MP for East Ayawaso?
