On Thursday 13th April, 2023, the former President H.E John Dramani Mahama was received overwhelmingly by the good people of Akwatia Constituency.
As part of his campaign tour to the Eastern Region, Mr Mahama was honoured and embraced by the entire people due to his good works.
On his arrival, he was received by the former appointees of the party(Ministers, MPs, DCEs, CEOs), Constituency executives, current member of Parliament, founding members, branch executives and other stakeholders.
Mr John Mahama amongst the three Presidential candidates was cleared by the vetting committee to contest.
The Constituency Chairman, Mr Awal Moro popularly known as chairman BB expressed his profound gratitude to the former president for his visit.
He says, party sympathizers and faithfuls in the Constituency have witnessed the good developmental projects and works done by his previous administration which always gives them the moral to walk with their chest out.
Mr Awal Moro reiterated that unity in the party was the reason why they gave him 98.1% in the last primaries and this time around promised to score 100%.
He also added that, they promised to snatch the seat from the NPP government and probably they delivered.
The Constituency chairman for the opposition National Democratic congress Mr Awal Moro went ahead to promise Mr John Dramani Mahama that they shall retain the seat come 2024.
The member of Parliament for Akwatia Constituency Hon Henry Boakye Yiadon in his speech pointed out some projects like the Tarkorase Community Day senior high, ARDA water project, construction of good roads, lifting the standard of education, health few to mentioned.
He says although his government is not in power, he has vehemently perform very well to bring some needful development to his people.
The MP in his first term of office has intensify youth in apprenticeship, construct good roads to some remote areas, donates numerous computers to schools, facelift health care, advance scholarship to next level.
Meanwhile, some floating voters in the Constituency speaking in an interview with Papa story News indicated that, they have carried the two leading parties which they can attest, former President H.E John Dramani Mahama was the best and that compels them to bring him back to power.
In his speech, Mr Mahama stated that free SHS is rather and has become very costly to parents and guidance than when they use to pay fees. He condemned the food being served to school children and also throw some light on how they spend more time home and spend few days in school.
He furthermore noted that, National Health Insurance has totally collapsed under the leadership of the New Patriotic Party NPP which is causing more harm to the health of the less privileged people in the country.
Former president John Mahama nearly shared tears whiles commenting on the economic hardship in the country. He says, the cost of living has become unbearable at a high rate due to rise in fuel prices, unstable dollar to cedi rate, high price of commodities, insecurity few to mentioned.
In his remarks, H.E John Dramani Mahama promised to complete all abandoned projects by the NPP government and continue his good works when voted in power.
