Seventy-two fire volunteers in Asuom, Eastern Region, Ghana, have completed a two-week training program. The training, conducted by personnel from the Kade Fire Station, covered essential topics such as:
- Bushfires: understanding the causes, effects, and management of bushfires
- Chemistry of Combustion: learning about the chemical processes involved in fires
- Electricity: understanding electrical safety and how to prevent electrical fires
- Fire Triangle: learning about the three elements necessary for a fire to start and spread
- Stages of Fire: understanding the different stages of a fire, from ignition to extinction
- Foot Drills: practicing foot drills to improve teamwork and communication during emergency responses
The training program was well-received by the youth in Asuom, and the instructors from the Kade Fire Station, including ADOi David Ohene, FM AGYEI Ofori, and Course Coordinator ADOi Emmanuel Ofori, provided rigorous training to equip the volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge to prevent and manage fires in their community.
The Municipal Fire Commander, DOii Felix Amoah, addressed the trainees on behalf of the Regional Fire Officer, ACFOi Timothy Osafo Afum, and assured them that they would be certified soon by the Chief Fire Officer.
