General Public cautioned against attack on Firefighter's

GNFS CONTAINS FIRE AT LUCKY MEDIA / HERBAL CLINIC AT KASOA : PUBLIC URGED TO RESPECT FIRE SCENE SAFETY PROTOCOLS

1. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) wishes to inform the general public that the fire outbreak which occurred at Lucky Media/Herbal Clinic, located in Kasoa, on the morning of Monday, June 16, 2025, was successfully and fully contained by GNFS firefighters and not by members of the public, as inaccurately portrayed in a viral video circulating on social media.

2. At exactly 08:43 hours, the GNFS received a distress call reporting the incident. Firefighters from the Kasoa Fire Station were immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene at 08:45 hours. They were assisted by a crew from Anyaa Fire Station, and together, they managed to bring the fire under control at 09:30 hours. The fire was completely extinguished at 10:54 hours.

3. The blaze, which originated from a gas cylinder explosion from unattended cooking, affected the first floor of a one-storey structure used as a studio and residential apartment comprising seven (7) rooms. Although no injuries were recorded, the entire upper floor and its contents were completely destroyed.

4. Unfortunately, during the course of the firefighting operation, some civilians unlawfully interfered by forcefully snatching a firefighting hose and attempting to fight the fire themselves. This reckless action occurred while power had not yet been isolated from the premises by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

5. The GNFS strongly condemns this act of obstructing lawful duty, which is a punishable offense under Ghanaian law. Such behaviour is not only unlawful but extremely dangerous, as it exposes individuals to electrocution, secondary explosions, and potential fatalities.

6. The Ghana National Fire Service urges the public to cooperate fully during emergency operations. Fire scenes must be left under the full control of trained professionals to ensure effective and safe firefighting operations as any interference is a serious risk to lives and property.

7. The GNFS remains committed to protecting lives and property from fires and related life-threatening incidents. We appeal to all citizens to support the GNFS by respecting fireground protocols and allowing firefighters to perform their lawful duties without obstruction.
