The Chief of Akyem Kwae in the Kwaebibirim Municipality of Eastern Region, Barima Kwaku Amankwah II, has vowed that his community will block any political party attempting to campaign there ahead of upcoming elections.
According to the Chief, the town has suffered a total lack of developmental infrastructure—including schools, healthcare facilities, and proper roads—since 1971.
Barima Amankwah II highlighted that residents of Akyem Kwae currently have to seek healthcare services in a rented apartment. Furthermore, the community's deplorable road network has become a major crisis, making it incredibly difficult for local farmers to transport their produce from the farms to their homes and local markets.
He was addressing the community during the closing ceremony of Edwura festival with the Theme: Cleansing our land, building peace and prosperity together on Sunday 14th June, 2026.
